The topic of our meeting will concern different aspects of food security in Nepal. First speaker, the founder and executive manager of Group of Helping Hands (SAHAS), Dr. Surendra K. Shrestra, will tell us about various elements of food security in Nepal.
The next speakers are Dr Tarja Kinnunen and Ms Praju Adhikari from Tampere University. They will tell us about the NERC project, which aims at strengthening nutrition education and research capacity in Nepalese universities. First, the project has renewed teaching related to food security, sustainability of food systems, and dietary assessment. Second, the project has developed a digital Nepalese food composition database and dietary intake calculator that will be freely available.
